Matt Clement
Volunteer Non-Executive Director
Matt is a former helicopter pilot and corporate executive who brings a unique blend of leadership, strategic insight, and hands-on animal care experience to the wildlife sector. With expertise in strategic planning, HR, communications and brand management, he has worked in senior leadership roles across the aviation, utilities, construction, consulting and not-for-profit sectors.
Now the CEO of Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, Matt leads the team behind one of Tasmania’s most iconic ethical tourism destinations, dedicated to the conservation of native species, through wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, education, and experiences that connect people and wildlife. A qualified veterinary nurse and advanced wildlife rehabilitator, he blends business acumen with a deep commitment to animal welfare – especially for possums, his self-confessed favourite.
Matt is committed to driving improved outcomes for endemic and migratory species right across Australia and is an outspoken champion for reform in the Tasmanian wildlife sector. He believes passionately that all animals – irrespective of their conservation status – deserve protection and access to the best possible care.
In his spare time Matt is engaged in his local community and enjoys spending time in nature. He lives on a bush block in Southern Tasmania, surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature.
