About The Course

This blended learning course provides wildlife rehabilitators and rescuers with practical foundations in avian first aid, stabilisation, and assisted feeding.

Participants will first complete an online pre-learning module (approximately 1–2 hours), covering:

  • bird stabilisation principles
  • basic avian anatomy
  • crop and tube feeding theory
  • handling and restraint
  • common risks and complications

A short quiz must be completed before progressing to the practical workshop.

Once completed, participants can book into the full-day (8 hour) face-to-face workshop, where they will build on their online learning through hands-on practical training, including:

  • bird assessment and stabilisation
  • wing wrapping and basic splinting
  • crop and tube feeding
  • cadaver-based practice
  • practical handling and restraint skills

This course is designed to improve confidence, practical skills, and supportive care outcomes for birds in rehabilitation.
